July 14, 20169 yr Anyone seeing anything like this when they go into community apps? Been seeing this for the past week or so, thought maybe a server was being updated? http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160714-gkyj-318kb.jpg[/img]
July 14, 20169 yr Author Appears to be so... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160714-r5p6-59kb.jpg[/img]
July 14, 20169 yr Try reinstalling the plugin, it was acting weird for me a couple of weeks ago and a reinstall fixed it.
July 14, 20169 yr Odds on its something corrupted with your docker.img file Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
July 14, 20169 yr Author Great guess. Just lost my cache drive! Ugh. At least I have backups... So when restoring a backup of the cache drive, is all I have to do is to replace the drive, copy the files from the backup, and I'm good to go? Or do I have to recreate the docker.img, etc?
July 14, 20169 yr Great guess. Just lost my cache drive! Ugh. At least I have backups... So when restoring a backup of the cache drive, is all I have to do is to replace the drive, copy the files from the backup, and I'm good to go? Or do I have to recreate the docker.img, etc? Assuming you're using CA backup, setup the new cache drive, create the docker.img, restore the backup, and then add the containers back in via CA previous apps
July 15, 20169 yr Author Having problems finding how to restore. I've also got an issue in that the replacement cache drive already was in use (no apps installed tho). Just the docker.img file created. Backup Appdata was in the CA section in settings, but when I went into it, none of the original settings are there (I assume because the cache drive isn't there?). Here's what I see...obviously I'm missing something important... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-uzjv-132kb.jpg[/img] FYI, when I click Appdata Share (source), it does not have any shares available... yet the cachebackup share I created is still alive and active... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-rn0i-164kb.jpg[/img] Thanks in advance...
July 15, 20169 yr Make a cache only appdata share, and then set backup the source (cache appdata) and destination (your backup folder). Then the restore should be available.
July 15, 20169 yr Author Ok, created appdata share, but no love. Even rebooted. Here's the share... (Cache only) http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-piaf-129kb.jpg[/img] Here's the cache drive (I created the appdata folder). http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-zoya-41kb.jpg[/img] CA Backup app still no share... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-tz3i-132kb.jpg[/img] Would it also work to just copy the backup files manually to the cache/appdata directory? Do I need to install the docker system first? i.e. I replace the drive, create a docker (.img and appdata directory), then setup shares, then setup CA Backup?
July 15, 20169 yr Did you specify your appdata path in Settings > Docker > Default appdata storage location ? Myk
July 15, 20169 yr Author No option for that...here's what my settings>docker page looks like... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-w1ln-119kb.jpg[/img] Here's the docker tab... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-duc1-101kb.jpg[/img]
July 15, 20169 yr Go into CA Backup Settings, and then after that post your diagnostics. (I actually only need to see the last few lines of the syslog where CA Backup logs what it says about the various shares on the cache drive)
July 15, 20169 yr Author Here's the log. Interestingly, nothing happens... perhaps what you're looking for? http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160715-p3pw-343kb.jpg[/img]
July 15, 20169 yr And you went into CA Backup immediately before posting that? (and didn't just leave the backup window open) (and are running the latest version of CA) Interesting... Either way I can pretty much guarantee that the appdata share also exists on one or more of the array disks. CA Backup is pretty strict on what qualifies for sources so as to be able to guarantee a successful backup What is the output of ls /mnt/user and ls /mnt/user0
July 17, 20169 yr Author Sorry, been out of town for the weekend. Here's the output... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160717-lvav-33kb.jpg[/img]
July 18, 20169 yr The output of the two commands are identical (with the exception of docker.img which is stored on the cache drive) Create a new cache-only share called appdata (or whatever it was called) and everything will be good to go. (BTW, I updated CA yesterday to include a little better logging in the backup module as if nothing was found at all for a potential source then nothing was logged at all). Just remember when setting up CA backup that you set it up based upon backups, not restores. And after its setup, don't hit Backup Now as that may overwrite your existing backup sets depending upon the options you've selected). Time permitting, I'll update CA's manual with better restore directions for a completely blank cache drive.
July 18, 20169 yr Author I may not have set this up correctly originally. I had setup a share called cachebackup (on disks 8 & 9) and created a backup directory called current (I have other files stored on the root of this share). Here's what it looks like... The blue and red arrows point to directories that were created by CA Backup. http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160718-80tz-87kb.jpg[/img] Looking at the configuration (settings>cabackups), it only allows me to pick one disk (see blue arrow below), so not sure how to move forward. http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160718-cpnx-73kb.jpg[/img] So are these the right steps forward...(see config above) 1. Appdata share is correct. 2. Save to Disk - not sure if this is correct. Disk 8 & 9 is where the cachebackup share is located. 3. Destination share is correct (see first screenshot for contents) 4. Save log file (yes and append) 5. Frequency: Weekly 6. Separate dated subfolders: yes 7. Delete after 120 days Left everything else default.
July 18, 20169 yr The only real issue is figuring out which disk the latest backup is on. Once you set the disk and apply (can't remember if you have to exit then go back into the screen) the drop down in the bottom right will show the available back up sets to restore Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
July 18, 20169 yr Oh and don't worry about usb being restored. That's a completely manual operation edit: If nothing else, while I had no problems using this module to restore my appdata after I changed my cache drive a couple weeks ago, I now can see that its not quite intuitive for someone who doesn't understand the inner-workings of what's going on behind the scenes. Look for a new "restore" module in the coming days to make life easier (hopefully) Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
July 19, 20169 yr Author Ok, so went to do this...and ran into this... "are you sure"... Since I'm not, thought I'd ask. It says it will delete all the files and folders in the subdirectory...which would obviate the reason I'm doing this...to restore my cache drive! How should I proceed? http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160719-fuof-106kb.jpg[/img]
July 19, 20169 yr Looks to me like you hit backup instead of restore. But I'd have to check after work Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
July 20, 20169 yr Author Looks to me like you hit backup instead of restore. I clicked "Apply"... Should I click something else?
July 20, 20169 yr No you did it right. You've got to apply before anything else. That popup is telling you that potentially the backup destination can / will be wiped when performing a backup. Just select one of the backup sets on the bottom right drop down and hit restore. Verify the source and destination on the pop up and you should be good.
July 21, 20169 yr Author Ok, so I did the apply and then did the restore. All the files appeared to get restored. However, the docker service did not start, even after a reboot of the server. Here's a screenshot. Even though the docker.img file is there, no apps? How do I restore the apps? Do I have to disable/renable docker, then reinstall all the apps? Tried that and it came up, but no apps are there. Must be missing something... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160721-hkvi-338kb.jpg[/img]
