July 21, 20169 yr You should have previous apps button in CA. If you push that one you can install what you used to have installed.
July 21, 20169 yr Ok, so I did the apply and then did the restore. All the files appeared to get restored. However, the docker service did not start, even after a reboot of the server. Here's a screenshot. Even though the docker.img file is there, no apps? How do I restore the apps? Do I have to disable/renable docker, then reinstall all the apps? Tried that and it came up, but no apps are there. Must be missing something... http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20160721-hkvi-338kb.jpg[/img] You still have to redownload the apps. Use CA's previous app's section. Select the app, reinstall. You won't need to adjust any of the template settings - they will all be the same as before. By default, docker.img is not backed up if it's in the appdata folder (because its so damn easy to recreate it to save the space on the hard drive). Going forward, you do have the option in the settings to back it up (only works if its actually stored within the appdata folder) Appdata is the pita to recreate. docker.img is nothing (and tbh you're probably better off recreating it anyways to clear out all of the old crap that winds up within it anyways)

You won't need to adjust any of the template settings - they will all be the same as before. I get the docker.img is just a framework. Here's what i did and the problem... 1. Disable the docker. Left the AppData directory restored by the CA Backup as it was. 2. Deleted the docker.img file. 3. Re-enabled the docker and recreated the file again. 4. Re-installed Plex, started plex. It asked to setup libraries... so I did. 5. Opened Plex looked at some movies that had specific data added in plex (i.e. descriptions, images, etc.). All that data was missing. The only data in the plex system were the movies and such imported. So should I now do another restore to write the data over the plex app? Perhaps that is how the backup work. Reinstall the apps first, THEN restore? I do think having explicit instructions would be good for the community. Happy to help you develop that...

Doesn't make a difference which order you do things in. Another restore certainly won't hurt, but I'd initially say either you picked the wrong backup set to restore from or the config mapping on the template isn't pointing to the same folder on the cache drive that was just restored Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
July 22, 20169 yr Alternatively, what you were doing here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=50455.0 messed up the backups.
July 22, 20169 yr Author ...but I'd initially say either you picked the wrong backup set to restore from or the config mapping on the template isn't pointing to the same folder on the cache drive that was just restored Looks like it is the installation template. I checked the app data directory and there are two plex directories plexmediaserver and PlexMediaServer. I took the defaults when it was installed, so perhaps the defaults changed from a previous template version? Anyway, deleted the newer installation, renamed plexmediaserver to PlexMediaServer and all is well... Let me know when you get your restore directions, I'll proof them for you if that is of use. For now, I think a restore should be like this... 0. Document all your docker templates BEFORE you have a crash! This might be a useful addition to your app, create a file that contains all the configs for each docker, including the setup, so that the restore process could automatically re-install all the docker apps? You could create an API that each App Developer could write to which would allow their app to document install configs...automation is a beautiful thing... 1. Replace failed Cache Drive (if that is the case). 2. Disable the Docker in Settings. 3. Re-enable the Docker and recreate the docker.img file. 4. Re-install Apps (make sure the configs are correct!) 5. Restore Appdata Golden?
July 22, 20169 yr Let me know when you get your restore directions, I'll proof them for you if that is of use. Its a lot closer to a one-click solution. No need to go back in and create the settings - it'll use the last applied settings. It'll create the appdata share (and set it to be cache-only), delete any files that may have wound up on /mnt/user0/appdata, restore the appropriate backup set. All you have to do at that point is create the docker.img and re-add the apps (I can't do that if docker.img wasn't in the backup set, and as previously noted, I don't think that docker.img should be backed up anyways). Additionally, another quick and dirty utility included to delete all backup sets (useful for when you've migrated from non-dated to dated and vice versa. You'll have no doubt noticed there are other folders in your backup dir that aren't dated -> remnants from your original setup of non-dated backups)
