July 27, 20169 yr Author Update: nothing changed with disabling /enabling Hyper-V and Hyper Threading!
July 27, 20169 yr You will never get the same performance from your vm as bare metal. Remember the bare metal is using all 6 cores of your 5930k Each vm is using 2 cores of the 5930k You maybe able to tune the vm a bit though. On first vm edit xml as below <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='2'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='3'/> <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='8'/> <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='9'/> <emulatorpin cpuset='0,6/> </cputune> on second edit xml as below <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='4'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='5'/> <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='10'/> <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='11'/> <emulatorpin cpuset='1,7/> </cputune> [/code] As you have 6 cores and are using a total of 4 for your vms you have 2 spare (although will be used for host too) but what the above is doing <emulatorpin cpuset='0,6/> and <emulatorpin cpuset='1,7/> is pinning the emulation calls for each vm on one of the spare cores. Please read this thread for more info http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=49051.0 Also i would setup vm as ovmf instead of seabios. Unfortunately this will mean a total reinstall of those vms as you cant switch from seabios to ovmf
July 28, 20169 yr Author Thanks for Info. At first i will try again with 10 thread this evening. than i will see if the cpu is to bad for this. Do you have any problems with you 14 core cpu ? After this i will rebuild the vm wirhout seabios and with emulator pin!
July 28, 20169 yr What benefits does the OVMF Bios yield over SeaBios? Better performance, efi support (no legacy support, you might have to reinstall your OS) and iirc better hardware passthrough support. EDIT: I think its possible to convert a legacy windows install to efi https://encrypted.google.com/#q=windows%20convert%20to%20efi Back up all your data before trying it!!!
