Cant login to UnRAID over network to access files

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am trying to connect to a UnRAID server (V6.2.0 beta) over a Windows workgroup network to access files but when I try to login it just won't work. If I try to login over the web GUI it works just fine, I have even tried resetting the password for the account but that didn't work. If it might cause an issue with something my password has multiple words separated with spaces and commas.

Also I just tryed to login using the account (the admin account) at the server itself using the console and it seemed to login just fine, but then instead of giving me a command prompt it took me back to the "Tower login:" line.

I had this problem originally, and it was a function of windows trolling. Try closing your file explorer and entering "net use * /delete" in an elevated command prompt. Did the trick for me

It doesn't help, when I type that in it just tells me

The network connection could not be found.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2250.

I also typed it in with the computer name and the IP address but got the same error

Is your server on the same workgroup? (SMB Settings)

Yup all of the shares are working and its on the same workgroup, I can still use them on other computers that were already logged onto it.

Control Panel - Credentials Manager. Delete any unRAID credentials so they can be renegotiated.

Try switching off all of your devices, then boot in this order

Modem from ISP ----> Router ----> Server ----> Other devices ----> The device with the problem (your Windows machine)

Try it again and see what happens. I had some NetBIOS quirks that were fixed this way.

Install Dynamix Local Master plugin and it will tell you what computer on your network is the local master. You want your server to be the local master (or perhaps your router if you can accomplish that).

Set your server to be the local master and then if any other computer is currently the local master shut it down until your server becomes the local master.
