July 30, 20169 yr I'm getting close to building a new Unraid machine that will take the drives and data from my old W10 machine. The cache drive in my unraid machine will be the OS drive in my old W10 machine, so I want to move this over last when I've got everything up and running. I'm fairly certain the answer is yes, but can someone confirm please that I can do my unraid build (install, apps/dockers and VM) all on the array drive and then move apps and the VMs easily to the cache drive once it's installed?
July 30, 20169 yr Community Expert If you are using the latest 6.2 rc3 release then there is now a "prefer" setting for shares. If this is set then you can start with the shares on the main array and when you later add a cache drive the 'mover' will move the contents of these shares to the cache drive with no further manual intervention.

Thanks I'll use the prefer option. It's going to be a long build when i get going as I've got about 15gb of data to transfer over and 26tb of drives to pre-clear including the parity drive
