July 30, 20169 yr Very unusual problem I have with Unraid 6.1.9 and OS X 10.11.6. The finder view lists 1180 folders, Path Finder list 1181 folders, Windows 10 lists 1374 folders, OS 10.7.5 lists 1374 folders. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is a bug in OS X10.11.6? All ideas appreciated. Thanks
July 31, 20169 yr *subbed* I too have seen this problem but I'm running 10.9.5. Have you tried both SMB and AFP ?
July 31, 20169 yr Author I have'nt tried AFP to see if that makes a difference. Will try that and a few other things to see if I can diagnose the problem. thanks
July 31, 20169 yr Author Something very wrong here. After starting AFP, the SMB share is showing 1379 folders, but the AFP view of the the same share is showing 1183 folders. Going to reboot everything to see if that makes any difference.
July 31, 20169 yr Author I may have stumbled into the answer. Its the way OS X calculated 'Items' in a view. If I have a folder in "List' view, and click the triangle to reveal the contents of the folder, it includes the count of the items within that folders as 'items' in the view. So if I have 1 folder in the view and it's closed, OS X reports 1 item. If however, I click the triangle and reveal the contents of the folder (.nfo, *.jpg) OS X counts the 2 files in that folders as items, and tells me I have 3 items. This looks to be the case, perhaps your problem is similar.
