4.5: Random "Remove write protection" errors when copying to unRAID Share

Featured Replies

Hi,

this is related to this post: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=4742.msg46684#msg46684

I just upgraded to 4.5 and the problem persists. I can copy a number of files to an

unRAID share successfully (from a Window 7 machine). After a random number of files

copied (batch using TotalCommander) I receive the above message.

No evidence of a problem to be found in the syslog.

Thanks for your help!

Some additional Info:

To be sure this is not a general problem with my network, I just transferred a couple

of thousand files to a different NAS (CH3SNAS, also Linux based). No problems

whatsoever, so it's a problem with my unRAID box. I'm also pretty sure that it's

samba related since I've never seen any problems with my overnight syncs between

my NAS boxes via nfs.

Some more info on this. I'm normally doing all file related tasks using Total Commander. Looks

like Total Commander doesn't report the correct error message. When copying files using Windows

Explorer the message I get is the one discussed in this thread.

What I get from the comments in that thread is that there is still no solution to this problem ?

setting max open files = 20000 in smb-extra.conf did not change anything for me.

I was also having errors transfering 9TB of data files from an Windows 7 x64 to UnRAID...

After change change my smb-extra.conf and start using TeraCopy the errors just disappears.

[global]
max open files = 100000

I was thinking it was related with

ulimit -n

but I was wrong...
