Disabled disk question

Featured Replies

Heya folks,

So I've been using unRaid for many, many years now but never really had many problems at all other than minor issues I've been able to sort out.

This one has me in need of some help if anyone can lend some assistance, as I really have a hard time with disk errors.

I initially noticed my Disk 5 with the red X, and the status of "Device is disabled, contents emulated."

So I grabbed the syslog & diagnostics (attachments prefixed with "1st_error")

I then tried to get smart report, but fond I needed to restart the system to get that. So then grabbed the smart report, syslog again, and diagnostics again (attachments with prefix "1st_HDD")

I had an unused drive already installed, so I pointed Disk 5 there and rebooted to start the data rebuild.

Disk 5 again failed apparently. I'll reply immediately with the syslog & diagnostics from that drive.

Is it possible that I just had a drive go bad, and the backup I had in installed already was bad as well?

Thanks for any assistance!

First disk has a pending sector and was disabled after a media error, so looks like it's a really a bad disk, 2nd disk looks fine and was disable after timeout errors on all disks connected to the SAS (SASLP?) controller, re-seat the card, check cable/enclosure and try a new rebuild on the same disk.
