Request: Share Details setting on a Single Pane

Featured Replies

Guys,

first I want to thank you for the hard work and UNRAID for so long time!

I just upgraded to v6 and since I have a lot of different shares and going through each share with all the details was VERY time consuming (and error prone for same shares that I want to setup equally) I would ask if it would be possible to change/set the details for all shares on a SINGLE PAGE? It would be nice on a single page to have one line per share, each option being a pull down menu, so that the current setting can be seen and adjusted, then with a single button down below on the page to submit ALL the changes at once. It might of course generate in the back a series of command calls and then upon finish reload the page and show the new settings. This would be VERY NICE.

Thanks for considering!

Normally you would post a feature request in the Feature Request subforum. I am going to leave this here for now though to let others comment on it.

I personally don't think this is a good idea. Could lead to accidents, it's way too much to cram into one page, and since these settings aren't changed often don't see much benefit. Also, there are already arrows in the upper right of the user share settings page that let you easily move to the next/previous user share setting page.

I opened up the settings for each Share in it's own browser tab and compared back and fort until I had all shares as I want them. Pressing on each block in each tab "apply" and waiting to see the update was very time consuming at the end.

This might be done mostly once during setup, but if there is a "bulk" change required to more than one Share at once it needs to be done again.

Thanks for considering!

Maybe you want a "Apply to ALL shares" button?

That sounds like a good compromise. Personally, I only have two shares (other than the system ones) so I don't have the problem.

Maybe you want a "Apply to ALL shares" button?

I like that idea.  With an addition of check boxes for all shares.  Checking the boxes you would like to apply the changes to.  So it doesn't have to only be ALL.

No, not "apply to all shares".

Say, I have 15 shares, 5 of them are equal, all others a different.

I want to be able to specify all details on a single page and press Apply button only once. Not going back and forth and comparing setings in different tabs and not being able to apply NFS/AFP/CIFS public/secure at once for a share... This is cumbersome.

A good compromise would be to setup ALL details for a share and click the Apply button (for all settings) at once (and not having 5 Apply buttons within a share settings page).

If you have a large number of shares to configure, perhaps it would be easier to edit the relevant configuration files manually, in a text editor, rather than using the GUI.

I have created an evaluation plugin which adds a clone option to the user and disk shares for both share and security settings. With this option it is possible to "prepare" one share and rapidly copy the settings to all other shares (destinations are selectable).

You can install the plugin by copy & paste this URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bergware/dynamix/master/unRAIDv6/dynamix.shares.clone.plg

Let me know your feedback and consideration to include this natively in the webGUI.
