August 9, 20169 yr Hello, Does anyone know how I can install unRAID on this server http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/consumer/backup/seagate-nas/. Will I need to do anything different. Thanks Harry
August 9, 20169 yr You can't. It has an ARM processor. unRAID needs an x86 processor from AMD or Intel.
August 9, 20169 yr Author Can you recommend a very cheap NAS with 4 Bays that I can install unRAID on?
August 9, 20169 yr You do not install unraid on a nas.. You install unraid on a pc/server and use it as a NAS (and as virtualisation platform)
August 9, 20169 yr Author Let me rephrase. Can you recommend a cheap server where I can install a NAS onto that has 4 bays?
August 9, 20169 yr The HP Proliant Microserver Gen8 would meet that requirement. EDIT: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013UBCHVU
August 9, 20169 yr Compared with the cost of the hard disks you plan to put inside it, it is cheap. It's astonishingly good value, actually, and I know for a fact that it works with unRAID. If you find something cheaper that does the job as well then please post here.
August 9, 20169 yr Author Thanks. Need a really good argument to hit my dad with tomorrow for a reason to get one...
August 9, 20169 yr Let me rephrase. Can you recommend a cheap server where I can install a NAS onto that has 4 bays? I bought a few of the Dell T20s that were on sale recently for $130/ea. They can handle four drives.
