August 9, 20169 yr My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 rev 1.1 and on the website it stats 32GB supported ram 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory (Note 1) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3908#sp But in unRAID system information it stats 16 GB max installable Memory: 16 GB (max. installable capacity 16 GB) I am guessing I can install 32 but want to check with you great & knowledgeable people first
August 9, 20169 yr (a) If the board supports 32GB, UnRAID will use it. (b) With unbuffered memory, you'll have a more reliable memory subsystem if you only install 2 modules. I'd be inclined to install a pair of 8GB modules for 16GB total ... and not bother with more unless you find you're actually running out of memory for what you're doing with the system (unlikely in most cases).
August 9, 20169 yr Author Hey Gary Thanks. That is what I have right now is 2 8GB modules. I was just checking for future ( if needed ) memory upgrade
