Migrate share HDD to Parity HDD, but can't delete last 54Mb of data from share

Featured Replies

I'm running UnRaid 6.1.9 (with i7 3770T, 16Gb RAM, 1 x 3Tb WD green (will be parity) and 2 x 3Tb WD Reds (configured as a 6Tb share), plus have a 60gb SSD I intend to use as a cache, but not enabled on the share yet and running UnRaid + 12 (for 12 devices (will be adding more devices later).

I'm migrating data from the WD 3Tb HDD I was using to test UnRaid previously. I'm not a Linux expert and want to avoid SSH into the O.S (I'm not that confident doing that and worried I'll screw everything up).

I want to move a current WD Green HDD (drive 10) to be a parity drive. I had 2 shares on here, 1 movie share, I was able to go to windows explorer and delete all the file, then as no data I could delete the share from the Unraid Gui / share tab.

But AppData (from previous UnRaid test unRaid for testing plex, thats not on / not required on the new build of 6.1.9 is also a share for some reason. But I can't delete all the AppData content, I've tried in windows explorer, but although says deleted, appdata is still there and share says 54mb of data and metadata for appdata and Plex still there, so can't delete the share in Gui/share tab, and if i cant delete the share I cant move the drive to be parity, so at the moment my data is at risk. confused.. help please? :-)

looking for a Newbie way to delete the Appdata, so I can remove the share, I'm ok to format this WD green / drive 10 as I don't need any of the data on it, as I want to use this drive as a parity drive.

I've figured a work around using the instructions below, and now parity drive is rebuilding - which might be helpful to others

Reset Array to an Unconfigured State

When the array is Stopped, you can navigate to the Tools tab at the top of the webGui and click on New Config. This function will restore the array configuration data so that the system thinks it's brand new with all new hard drives. When you Start the array, the system will start a background process to generate the parity information.

In the special case where all the hard drives are new, the format operation will not clear the data areas; it simply generates parity. This can be used when you've added new disk(s) and you don't want to wait around for the clear phase to complete. In this case you could first Reset the array configuration, and then simply Start the array, and the system will re-sync parity, incorporating the new disk(s).
