Cache_drive - Added a cache_dir but its seldom gets any writes or reads?

Featured Replies

Looking for someone to clarify this:

I added a 250gig cache drive to my 4.5Plus Unraid - which is  running Unweb,Umenu,SABnzbd,Subsonic and Rutorrent.

I have 3 drives plus the cache.

I don't use the user share option just the regular disk1,disk2 share etc

From what i read, the cache drive makes a substantial diff when using user share...

Does the Cache_drive make any difference when not using user share?

Thanks

Joe

As far as I know, it is not used at all when you write directly to the disk shares.  It is only used when you are using "user-shares"

Thanks,

Guess, I will add it as  extra drive....

  • 5 weeks later...

I thought the cache drive sounded amazing, but after I added it in... I was more and more annoyed by the fact that my data was on the cache drive and not on my actual protected array.

I removed it after a week, and haven't looked back. I like my system much more without it.
