August 15, 20169 yr So in my infinite wisdom, i added an ext4 partitioned disk to my array not realizing that by adding it to the array, it would destroy the ext4 filesystem on the drive. I have a bunch of data on this drive i wish to rescue. Can anyone tell me how i could recover this? I haven't written to the drive since. i booted into linux and fdisk is telling me "Partition 1 does not start on physical sector boundary" Also, i never let unraid reformat the drive to xfs
August 15, 20169 yr As soon as you added the disk to the parity protected array, unRaid began clearing it (writing 0s) so that it could be added. Probably not much experience around here with the ext4 recovery tools, so you're probably best off researching via Google on how to utilize the recovery tools available.
August 15, 20169 yr Author thanks. fortunately i was able to rescue the partition and most of the data using the testdisk utility which repaired the ext4 partition. Some of the data might be corrupt but i can read from it at least.
