Moving Data Between User Shares

Featured Replies

Trying to do a little file organization on my server.  i have about 10 TB of media on a user share called XBMC, it uses all the drives in the array.  It contains 2 folders Movies, and TV.  I want to split those two folders into their own user shares called tv and movies respectively.  They will use all the drives in the array.

What would be the best way to move files to their locations?  Can i use MC to move User share to User Share? or should i use MC and move files on /disk1/XBMC/TV to a new folder /disk1/tv ?

All user shares use all drives.

Copying across the network is a lot for the 10TB so looking for a faster way.

Thanks in advance

This is one way to do it:

If disable enable disk shares (Settings -> Global Share Settings)

From you desktop browse to each disk share and cut and paste "TV" and "Movies" folders to the root of each disk, e.g.:

Browse to \\tower\disk1\XBMC and cut and paste both folders to \\tower\disk1

Operation will be instantaneous, repeat for all other disks.

Stop and restart array when it's done to make sure unRAID recognizes the new shares, if you had it disable don't forget to disable disk shares in the end.
