Optical drives in a VM

Featured Replies

I've recently built a home server using unraid with the intention for it to serve primarily as a plex media server. I have succesfully installed plex onto my server and it is functioning all good and proper. However I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with, sorry if it's a repeat topic, using optical drives to rip media to their unraid server from a windows vm. I have a windows 8.1 running atm but I couldn't find online anyone who's managed to do it, or really try and do it. I have 2 spare dvd drives and a bluray drive, am I going to need a seperate sata controller for running this or can I use the same one as the drives on the server, or is it not possible ? Thanks in advanced

I don't use Windows VMs but the MakeMKV docker works well with a Blu-Ray drive and unRAID.
