Newbie question about virtual switches and running a router as a VM

Featured Replies

So I want to try running pfSense as a VM. Right now, I have it as a separate machine but I can't imagine it can't be done virtually.

Here's the thing: I want to put my unraid network shares behind my router so they're accessible to the lan my router creates, which requires putting unraid itself behind the router, right?

Is there a way to pass my vm guest router direct access to the outside WAN but keep the host on the lan the guest creates? My boss tells me this is possible with virtualized switches in esxi, does unraid have something similar?

Any help is appreciated!
