August 23, 20169 yr Hi guys, just wanted to get some advice. Just realized I purchase the wrong RAM(Registered instead of Unregistered) for my mobo(Supermicro X11SSM-F) so want to make sure I don't make the same mistake again... I messed up and bought these which are registered: http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/?partid=kvr21r15s4k4/32 Hopefully I can return it... I was looking at getting these to replace them: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/x11ssm-f/CT7982363
August 23, 20169 yr Your best bet is to always buy from SuperMicro's "Tested Memory List". It is linked from every motherboards page on their site. For 8GB modules, either Hynix HMA41GU7AFR8N-TF or Samsung M391A1G43DB0-CPB are guaranteed to work. For 16GB modules, either Hynix HMA82GU7MFR8N-TF or Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CPB are guaranteed to work. 8GB Samsung: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-M391A1G43DB0-CPB-8GB-DDR4-2133-ECC-CL15-Server-Memory-85B7-/401116075703 16GB Samsung: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMSUNG-M391A2K43BB1-CPB-16GB-2RX8-PC4-2133P-REG-MEMORY-FOR-Z440-Z640-Z840-/172248885432
August 23, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the quick reply Steven, Yeah I saw those lists today when I was troubleshooting, but noticed they are all 1 stick kits, and aren't as easily accessible to me. I guess buying 2 of the single 16GB sticks wouldn't be too bad, but I heard it's better to buy them in a dual kit since they would have been tested together.
