August 24, 20169 yr Currently, I have unraid 6 with about 3tb of data. The "Boss" wont allow any more "computer boxes" in the house anymore. I've been trying to work out a solution with a few of the Android boxes I have (Tronsmart Draco AW50, Tronsmart Orion R68) as cheap backup alternatives. I came across the Syba Raid enclosure and have it set up as Raid 1. I've been looking for a solution to be able to back up unraid to the Syba enclosure. Ideally, I'd like to have the Syba enclosure using the USB 3.0 port on my router. What plugin can I use to syncronize backup to this enclosure? I am not sure that rsync will do it? Am I wrong on this? As for the Android boxes - I used a program called Syncronize ultimate to try and make a sync of the unraid server. However, its just too slow. Speeds are like 8MBps. Either the app downloads one file to the internal SD and then xfers to the USB or that the USB write speeds are too slow or that the Cache/buffers are too small/slow or all of these in combination. Please note that I was using a box with USB 3.0 port. These boxes are cheap and work well for watching movies and such. Dont think they have the horsepower to xfer files around. Well, the Draco AW50 does. But not sure that it has enough Cache to support all this file moving action. Interestingly, when I download straight to the USB drive on the android box (via ES File explorer), the speeds shoot up to 14-15MBps. However, I need something automated, on a weekly/twice-a-week basis I then tried to use Syncronize Ultimate to Sync from the unraid box to Raid enclosure attached to Router. Syncronize ultimate downloads to the Android box and then uploads to the Raid enclosure - double the time. DL speeds at 20MBps and UL speeds roughly 16-18MBps. I'd like a more "elegant" way to sync files to the RAID enclosure. Preferably from unraid straight to the RAID enclosure. I just dont see where anyone has done this. I apologize if there has been a post/answer on this already. Thoughts? Thanks.
August 24, 20169 yr Author Nicey nice! From what I have preliminarily read of Anassigned Devices Plugin - I can assign the remote USB RAID enclosure [virtually] locally. Then run an rsync script and not need an Rsync Daemon since the remote RAID is now "Local" ... ? If there are any other ideas, Let me know. Willing to try out multiple different avenues. Thanks!

Or you can plug it directly into your server and use Unassigned Devices to access the data directly on your unRAID server instead of remotely over the network. Whichever you prefer.
August 24, 20169 yr Author Thanks. However, I wanted to satisfy all the [paranoid] folks here, (myself being one of them) in regards to an electrical surge or some catastrophe that knocks out the part of my house with my unRAID box. So, I've put this little enclosure on a router somewhere else - but on the same domain/subnet. Then, also, there was some chatter about unRAID not doing xfers with USB3 speeds? But that gigabit network speeds would be more optimized.
