Windows 7 not receiving updates in VM

Featured Replies

I can't figure out why my Windows 7 VM will not get updates. It has internet connectivity and my windows 10 VM gets updates with zero issues. I've done fresh installs of Windows 7 twice now and neither time will it update.  It just sits there looking for updates and never moves any further. Any ideas?

How long did you wait? I think MS is deprecating their W7 update servers to inflict maximum pain on people who insist on keeping their W7 instead of upgrading like good little consumers.

I've seen bare metal installs of W7 take DAYS to fully get updated from MS's servers, I recommend using wsus offline updater to make the process work a little faster, you can set up an updater share on your server.

It's been like this for a year or so.

Wow. I let it run 8 hours or so and it never even listed any available updates.

Also, thanks for the wsus tip. I've been in the Mac world for the past few years and had never heard of wsus......of coarse I've never had updating issues either. Anyhow, I'll definitely be using that and creating a update share on the nas. ??????

Thanks again
