August 31, 20169 yr I have two computers on my home network that I want to mirror each other, and also be backed up to my unraid server. I was considering using crashplan as I think that would handle the backup part fine but am not sure about the syncing. Of course it would be easiest to just write directly to the unraid box but since these are laptops they aren't always on the network but will always need access to the files. Suggestions welcome (please!)
September 1, 20169 yr Crashplan works great.. No issues there... What OS are you running on the laptops? If windows the Windows Offline files is probably all you need for syncing. Depends on your goal I guess though.
September 2, 20169 yr Author Thanks. The laptops do indeed have windows (10) installed so I guess the offline feature is an option. When you say the "windows offline" is all I need for syncing. I see how that would help when that laptop (really only one ever leaves the network) would be off of the network but would it help in terms of syncing with the other laptop? sorry I am trying to wrap my head around this. Would I sync the two laptops between each other then use crashplan on one of them or would crashplan be able to sync both laptops in addition to backing them up? (ensuring that files on both of the laptops is the same, file/dir structure etc). Thanks!
September 7, 20169 yr Author Perhaps a slightly different question. If I set up syncthing on the two client (win10) computers and had them sync with each other and also my unraid box but the unraid box would keep versions, would that keep everything sync'd and baked up?
