Large Scale unRaid Usability and Reliability

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I currently have a server with two Intel E5-2683 processors, 2 - 500GB SSD, 12 - 4TB Spinning drives, and 64GB of ECC RAM. I currently have the latest, 6.2 RC5 installed and running on trial. I have setup the 2 SSD's as a cache and setup 2 of the 4TB drives as Parity. I have the remaining 10 drives setup as part of the array.

From what I was reading, the array should be able to suffer up to two drive failures, is this true? I am planning on performing an off-site backup to further proof myself from data loss.

I am looking at using the system for at minimum 3 VMs and a long term storage array for multiple devices. Is unRaid a viable option in a production environment?

Thanks much,

Andy
