September 8, 20169 yr Hey there, I have one onboard controller currently passed to a windows 10 VM, but the motherboard only has 2 controllers, and one of them is needed for the unraid flash. As I want multiple VMs with native USB controllers I am in need of an add in card. I do have a spare pcie usb3 but it puts out error messages on boot of unraid and devices on it are not recognized. Optimal would be a card, that would contain multiple internal USB controllers (if thats possible at all) so that I could pass through these instead of passing through the whole pci(e) device. I would not care for the speeds to much but if it's possible usb 3 would be nice. I do have two usb3 ports on my case that are not conected right now so a usb 3 header would be awesome. some options I found: https://www.reichelt.de/USB-Controller/DELOCK-89315/3/index.html?ACTION=3&LA=2&ARTICLE=118745&GROUPID=6102&artnr=DELOCK+89315 https://www.reichelt.de/USB-Controller/LOGILINK-PC0058/3/index.html?ACTION=3&LA=2&ARTICLE=125057&GROUPID=6102&artnr=LOGILINK+PC0058 https://www.reichelt.de/USB-Controller/SEMPRE-UP33-I19/3/index.html?ACTION=3&LA=2&ARTICLE=135473&GROUPID=6102&artnr=SEMPRE+UP33-I19 http://www.reichelt.de/?ARTICLE=155232;PROVID=2794&wt_mc=amc14291660253544&zanpid=2208937422795297792 If you got a usb controller to recomend I might aswell just buy that instead. I would have to run a usb and display cable for about 3-5 meters from the Server to the Desk that is farest away, so if you got a similar setup and can recomend a solution that would be appreciated also, guess it would be best to go for a powered usb2/3 hub - then the distance should be fine.
September 11, 20169 yr I had a similar issue and I bought a USB3.0 add-on card. For me, it didn't help, because the PCIex1 slot that I used on the mobo for the USB card was in the same IOMMU group as the SATA controller for all my hard drives. You might have to use the PCI ACS override option.
