September 10, 20169 yr Trying to copy data from NTFS formatted drives to a pool share through Midnight Commander is ridiculously slow. Like 20MB/s. I have no cache drive and no parity drive enabled, only data drives at the moment. I moved data onto what is going to be the cache & parity drives temporarily until I could copy it into the pool. This is a first setup, so I need to move something like 20TB of Data, and 20MB/s isn't going to cut it. Using SMB shares and Windows to move the files I'm getting like 65MB/s avg, with bursts @ 75MB-100MB/s copy speed. The raw disk speeds are 87MB/s-130MB/s depending on platter location. I don't want to be copying files for days here folks, so I'm looking for some speed. Any advice?
