FIXED: can't connect to UNRAID server both MAC or PC

Featured Replies

I can't connect to my server either Mac or PC but I can go to http://tower/main.htm to change setting and other stuff.

For MAC, I used smb://tower/movie. It says "Connection failed There was an error connecting to the server "tower". Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you are unable to resolve the problem contact your system administrator."

For PC, I try to map network drive \\tower\movie. It says "The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred: The specified server cannot perform the requested operation."

I have other NAS at my house. It works the same way. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with UNRAID server. Please help me out if you know either one problem or both.

For PC, I try to map network drive \\tower\movie. It says "The mapped network drive...

Without mapping anything, what happens when you type "\\tower" (without the quotes) into the address bar of a Explorer window?

(and I don't mean internet explorer)

It says "Winows cannot access \\tower ...."

I can go to http://tower/main.htm to change setting and other stuff.

In that case, go to:  http://tower/log/syslog

Save that file, and attach it here.

Also, on your windows computer, open a dos box and run this command:  ipconfig /all

Post the output here.

If this is a new install - an error I made that prevented the server from being available was to skip the step of assigning the Volume label of the USB key that contains the server to "UNRAID"

I got it fixed. It was the USB problem not because of the Volume label. It was something else. After I change it to sandisk USB everything working fine. Thanks for the help guys.. :D
