Best way to confirm a drive is ok?

Is preclear the best method to determine if a drive is ok to reintroduce to the array?  When using preclear is there any downside to doing the 2 skip options to make it fasdter?  I have had a few marked faulty that i don't think are. No red flags on the smart reports at least from a newbs perspective.

 

Normally i run a preclear 1 to 3 times on new drives, depending on time available.
