Help needed with unmountable drive

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently upgraded to 6.2, although I am thinking that is not related to this issue.

I was copying files to a share on my unRaid server when it the process failed.  Looking at the server, my Disk 1 is now shown as "Unmountable", with a file system status of "Unmountable - No file system (32)".

The main screen shows that I can format the unmountable drive, but before I do that I'm really hoping to be sure I have the steps right.

I really hope to save the data on the drive.  Is the right order to format the drive and then, once that is done, will I see an option to rebuild the array using the parity drive?

If that's not correct, is there a way to bring that drive back online and then rebuild the missing data?

I have attached the diagnostic files.  I didn't spot any issues, but I really have no idea where to look.

Any help that can be offered will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you,

Scott

Thanks, Johnnie!!

That was a HUGE help.  I'm not very familiar with Linux so it takes me a while to figure things out :-)

I ended up using the xfs_repair command with the -L option (xfs_repair -L /dev/md1) which, according to the output, may have lost some metadata changes.  A lost+found folder was created on Disk1 but it contained just 1 empty file.

I am SO glad I asked before formatting the disk and even more glad that you responded so quickly!

Things seem to be back to normal (although I will run a parity check).  Thanks again for your help!!
