September 21, 20169 yr I currently have 2 Virtual Machines, several plugins, several dockers, and it all runs off an unassigned SSD. I know some things have changed in how unRAID will setup dockers and libvirt from scratch for a new user, but this isn't the way I'd done it originally. I've not followed closely, and see parts of answers to much of my questions, but wanted to summarize before I dig a hole I could easily avoid when I make the switch (later today). I think I read I cannot have either Docker or VM's on an unsasigned drive now, which isn't ideal, but if necessary, i can adapt. What is the current thinking/best practice for storage of docker and VM images? Is Community Applications able to backup these images for me, and if so, how do I set this up? I know I have to delete my docker image, and I can reinstall the dockers using the previous apps or with CA (in one fell swoop). Anything more I should be aware of here? As for the locations of the libvirt and iso images for Virtual machines; it seems that unRAID will create new folders on new installs, but it's unclear if they will be created for upgrades. If not, should I create them and adapt my setup to match this new default, to avoid having to remember how I customized from default in the years to come. I'm looking for ease and consistency, so if I have to do some hoop jumping now to avoid having to 're-learn' and do it later, I'm all for it. If I do use these new folder locations, will my stored docker image configs need to be changed to match the new locations (for where to put appdata specifically)? Is there some new/other/better way to manage unassigned drives in the new version? Should I just assign the SSD to the array, but exclude it from all storage capability, and just point everything to /mnt/diskX and not have an unassigned drive? Wouldn't this prevent the ability to have the VM's running with the array shut down, or does this happen now anyway (I can't remember). Finally, anything else I'm not considering that I should do before or as part of the upgrade today? Thanks
