Convert existing MD-1510/LC to rack mount

I've read through several of the posts on rack mount cases to understand some of the options and issues.  For a grass roots build, there are some good answers.  However, I have an existing MD-1510/LC that I would like to convert to rack mount.  I'm not certain if gutting the components and going with a different case is the best path to pursue or if there are conversion kits to adapt the existing case.  The dremel is my friend, so I'm not afraid of a little creative fabrication.

 

Has anybody out there done something like this before and care to share the lessons learned?  Any advice or pitfalls to avoid?  I appreciate any and all feedback.
