Number of Devices attached with Unraid Plus

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have unraid plus with 7 x 3TB drives, 1 x 4TB drive, 1 Parity,  2 SSD's as a cache pool plus the flash drive

I believe this means I am at my device limit.

What are “attached devices”?

They refer to the total number of storage devices physically attached to the system before you start the array.  This number is in addition to your USB flash device used to boot unRAID (e.g. 4 HDDs + 2 SSDs + unRAID boot device = 6 attached devices).

Ok, just read this thread  https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=44732.0 . It tells me that pre-clear is not necessary for drive replacement. I know it is desirable, but not pre-clearing may be my only solution?

Any other options?

Thanks

EDIT: Just realised I misread the link. Flash drive is not included so I am at 11 devices. The problem will come about though if I decide to go dual parity, so it'd still be good to know if there are any solutions. I don't intend to add any more data drives.

You can always preclear a drive if you want, but if you reach the device limit you need to attach the disk "after" starting the array.

Thanks for the response.

I am assuming that I would attach it via USB3 or eSATA after the array starts?

Even SAS/SATA if you have a hotswap enclosure.
