Old school C development on unRAID

Featured Replies

Hello,

I wanted to do some "old school" C development on my unRAID box. Can anyone recommend or point me on how to install a C compiler and the "make" tools.

For all I know it is already on the system?

It has been a long time and I want to dust off my coding / porting chops. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

There is no development system on the base unRAID OS system.  Since it has to run from RAM it is stripped down to what is directly necessary for it to carry out its built-in capabilities.

The best way to proceed would be to create a Linux VM.  This could be any variant of Linux that suits you, but if you are interested in building binaries that can run directly under unRAID OS then you might want it to be Slackware as that is what unRAID is based on.
