USB disconnects

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

since i upgrade to V6.2 i got some strange behaviour. Like:

  • All shares available, without login. Even not public shares for internals (vmdisks, appdata) is on windows share.
  • Web GUI - "Dashboard" is just a blank page
  • Not possible to change confis

Now i found the reason:

Unraid is disconnecting my USB device, and reconnecting on another device name. After that, it seems Unraid can't find its config

When this happens, this disables all security with SMB shares and publish ALL shares to public!

I would need to find a solution that stops this from happening.

Additionally, this should be reported to Lime-Tech in any way. For business this is crucial if restricted shares are public available just for no reason.

Hope someone can help, and have any idea.

Check to see if your Flash Drive is plugged into a USB3 port.  If it is, try using a USB2 port.  (There have been several cases where the Flash Drive gets 'lost' when a UBS3 port is used for the boot drive. Possibly, a MB, BIOS, OS issue...)

Yes it is connected to USB3. I'll switch over to USB2 on next restart. Let's see.

I'm on USB2 now. Let's see what will happen today :)

Another effect i notized last night.

Even tho i set my AppData Share to CACHE ONLY, and manually moved all AppData Files to Cache Disk (two times already), the System (PlexMS - only App) still recreating the AppData folder on Disk1 and writing to it. Wtf?

I could imaging this also can happen when unraid lose it's config, so it stops knowing the cache-only config?

I would suggest you look through you syslog and see if you see any indication that your Flash Drive is not working correctly.  OR you can post up your diagnostics file.

Plus, if you have Dockers installed, you might have to reset them back up.  I don't run Dockers but if you reread the first couple of threads for the Version 6.2 Release thread.  If you have questions after that, post back and someone should get back to you.

Ok. Running stable on USB2 now. The disconnection-issues seems to be related to USB3 Port.

The other behaviour is just a follow up, because unraid can't handle the lost configs - at least i think so.
