Created a bootable usb with the hp tool removed the unraid usb and booted to dos tried to update firmware - Adaptor not found

Is this the correct way to upgrade

 

Attempting to fit this to a Intel DQ45CB board in the PCIE x 16 slot

 

How can i check that the card is installed at all ??

Do i actually require a hard drive connected for it show up ??
