This is a new one for me - Super Micro Login

Featured Replies

I have never seen this in the year+ that I have been running my unraid server.  The server is named Jarvis (let my son name it but it's a good one) and I can usually type //Jarvis/ in my web browser to get log in.  All of a sudden today, and I have made no changes, it won't work.  I can still access plex from my Apple TVs and Jarvis is still available under networks which is how I transfer movies to the server so I have access to an extent.  I decided to try just the IP address and not //jarvis/ as that will also work, but instead of getting the unraid login I get a supermicro login screen.  I know the login is ADMIN ADMIN but I don't need that.  What could be preventing my browser from connecting to unraid at the IP if the server is still visible on and fully accessible from my entire network?  I know zero about linux or coding so treat me like a 5 year old.  Thanks in advance.  I have searched but obviously didn't use the correct search terms.

Your physical server and the unRAID "server" should have separate IP addresses.  If you are getting the SM login, you are using the wrong one.  Check your router for "attached devices" or something similar and see if you can't identify the unRAID IP address, then try that.

Thanks for the reply.  The IP address to access my unraid has always been 192.168.0.5 so...  I will do as you suggested.  Again, thanks!

It's possible your routers DHCP server reset or something else changed.  I know for me, my physical server is x.x.x.11, and if I type that into my browser I get a SM login screen.  x.x.x.10 however pulls up the unRAID login.

I logged into my router.  I see IP addresses for everything in my house except SuperMicro or unraid...  But I am accessing the files as we speak.  I don't want to go poking around in the server for fear of screwing something up.  I have a monitor and kb connected to the server and running ifconfig gives me 192.168.0.5 which is what is has been for the longest so that seems to have not changed.  Any other ideas?  Plex is still working on all devices and since I am running plex from within unraid, that makes me assume that unraid is fine and is just not wanting me to find it.

Upadate.  After googling a bit I found a suggestion to open cmd prompt, and ping sever, so in this case I typed ping jarvis and it comes back with 192.168.0.9 NOT 5.  So number one, for some reason my IP address changed.  I double checked on the server with ifconfig and sure enough it ends in 9 NOT 5 so I must have been looking at it crosseyed.  But shouldn't it still be available in my web browser by typing in the address bar 192.168.0.9?  The only reason I am getting concerned is about two weeks ago I got my first red dot so I had to replace a drive.  The whole process what painless and perfect except for my mini panic when I discovered it.  Since then I make it a habit to check the unraid control panel daily just for piece of mind.  One thing not mentioned, I just completed a monthly parity check.  Could that in any way be effecting it?

EDIT: just logged into router again and now Jarvis is showing up where it didn't only 30 minutes ago.  Still not cooperating with browser though so no unraid gui.

On a windows box, click Start>Run. Type 'cmd' and hit enter.

then type

ping Jarvis

and hit enter. This will show you the IP address "jarvis" is assigned.

Thanks.  I did that.  Still no luck loading getting the GUI to load.  I need to research how to safely reboot from the server with the local monitor and keyboard and see what happens.  Thought it might be isolated to my desktop PC but it's not working on my ipad or my laptop.  At least I can still access my server through windows explorer and watch Plex.  But I do want to find out what is going on.

Is the powerdown plugin installed?

If so

powerdown -r

Technically we're not meant to need powerdown on V6.2 but it's been resurrected because of problems with the default implementation of powerdown in Unraid.

Embarrassed to say I don't know.  But I'll give it a try.  Thanks.  Edit:  Typed powerdown -r  Now the cursor on the monitor is just blinking below that line.  Doesn't appear to be doing anything.  :-\

Ummm.  I'm a little worried now because I still have that blinking cursor.  My server is running and I can't access the gui to spin everything down for a shutdown or reboot.  HELP?  Can I telnet in or something?

Sounds like you don't have notifications setup. Notifications will email you about these problems.

You could try...  assuming you entered that command locally then?

I don't have notifications setup.  If the cursor is blinking on the server monitor, is there a key combination to get back to the login screen or to a prompt?  It looks like I need to power down but I want to do it safely.

You could try ctrl-c or ctrl-z

That got me back to a prompt.  Feel much better.  Thank you.  Now I can concentrate on why all of shares show up but no unraid menu...  It's probably the simplest thing.

Not sure if I'm 100 yet but I downloaded PUTTY and followed some advice from googling the forum.  I rebooted from putty.  Webgui is now up.  It started another parity check but hey, I can handle that even if I do have 42tb of data so far.... Thanks for the help everyone.  I know the answers are out there it's just a little overwhelming for a semi-computer literate guy.  If I am golden after parity check, which will take a couple days, the I will report back.  Again, Thanks!!!
