Flash drive replacement

Featured Replies

I am wondering what would happen if I need to replace the flash drive with the registration key in, will I need to format every drive or I could just plug the new flash drive in and done?

Thanks! :D

You want a copy of the files off the flash drive, and put them on a new one.  You then follow the process for transferring your key to the new USB drive.  Once that is done then booting off the new USB drive brings your system back with all data immediately accessible.

But is it still possible to do this without the original flash drive as I may have lost it.

If you have the .key file, the replacement procedure should still work.

As was mentioned you would need the original key file so make sure you keep this somewhere safe (that is not on the unRAID server).

If you do not have a backup of the original flash then you will need to redo your settings as you will have lost the configuration data held on the flash.  In particular make sure therefore that you know what drives are assigned where.  A screenshot of the Main tab can help here.
