September 28, 20169 yr Hi Guys I am sure this is a simple thing. I have 2 unraid boxes running on V6 and both have been running well. After a windows update when I try to access my SMB shares on the box I get a username and password box. I set up no users on the unraid box and left it standard as installed. I am guessing this is a windows update issue but before I go of looking at that I wanted to know if anything I should be doing on the unraid? Cheers
September 28, 20169 yr Community Expert You probably want to use Windows Credential manager to remove any cached credentials for the unRAID server.
September 29, 20169 yr Had the same problem with windows 10, did a weekend of troubleshooting, no go. SMB seems somewhat screwed, resetting credentials is a no go, even created a specific user without any luck. Rolled back to 6.19, all good now.
October 1, 20169 yr Author Worked out if I add the username Windows 8 logs in with to unriad then when I go to the smb share and type this user account in it works. Is there a way around this so I don't have to do this every time? Was thinking should I change the Windows 8 domain to the same as the unriad box?
October 1, 20169 yr Community Expert Domain, or Workgroup? Do you have a domain controller on your network? Is there some reason you need multiple domains or workgroups on your network? Most home users should put all their computers on the same workgroup unless they have a specific reason why they shouldn't.
October 1, 20169 yr Author It's a home network so no domain controller. The pc is on workgroup and the unriad is on what ever the default is which I can't remember right know. Only thinking it might be something to do with security on the Windows box with a change From a installed update.
