Recommendations for getting video signal from VM to monitor?

Featured Replies

Hello all!

Now that 6.2 is final, I've finally started delving into the VM world. I've got an El Capitan Mac image (Thanks GridRunner and your YouTube Videos!!) as well as a Windows 10 image in the works. Just working on passing through keyboard and video etc.

My question for all those who have been doing this for ages:

What's the best way to  get my video from the server to my monitor. The cable run to the server is roughly 30 - 40 feet, so I've looked into hdmi, powered hdmi, hdmi-over-ethernet.... Anyone with experience with these options and care to comment on pros and cons?

Also, in the same vein, will running a 30-40 foot usb 3.0 cable to a usb hub work, or will it need some sort of signal boosting as well?...

Thanks!!!

Really looking forward to reducing my physical computer count by 2!!! :)

I have HDMI & USB over Ethernet. It works great.

The USB have a power supply.

Sweet! Can you recommend a make+model I should look at? There seems to be so many options with very mixed reviews!

Thanks!!

I am using 50ft runs of both HDMI and USB extension.  Nothing fancy...not powered...fairly cheap stuff on Amazon.  No issues at all.
