October 1, 20169 yr Hi guys, having a bit of an issue here, up until the other day everything was running smoothly, but recently when i tried to log into the web gui i could not access it through my usual method by typing "\\tower" in chrome, although all my shares were still accessible. I flicked the power button to do a reset and when it powered back up it said that there was an unclean power down detected and it would do a parity check. When i try to start the array, the browser looks as if its loading but other than that it is totally unresponsive and have left it running for about 4 days to see if time would fix it but nothing. i am able to access the console by plugging a monitor and keyboard into the NAS but i don't really know what i'm doing there. Any thoughts? syslog.txt
October 1, 20169 yr Community Expert Your syslog says you don't have any drives assigned. Can you access the webUI by IP address instead?
October 1, 20169 yr Community Expert Your syslog doesn't indicate a parity check since it doesn't think you have any drives assigned. You might try typing diagnostics and then shutting down and see if it wrote the diagnostics zip file to your flash, then post it. Also let your PC checkdisk your flash drive.
October 2, 20169 yr Author Hmm, I did think maybe it wasn't recognising the drives. After I had the initial crash I did upgrade to v6.2 maybe i did something wrong and stuffed up the drive assignments when i did that. Checkdisk didn't find any problems on the USB diagnostics-20161001-1811.zip
October 2, 20169 yr Community Expert How did you upgrade? Your drive assignments are stored on the flash in config/super.dat. If you didn't include that file when upgrading, or maybe something happened to it, then you wouldn't have drive assignments. Do you know what your drive assignments should be?
October 2, 20169 yr Author I formatted the usb stick, put v6.2 on and copied over network.cfg, ident.cfg, share.cfg, and shares/*.cfg, but i didnt copy over super.dat, I will copy over that file from my backup and see if it recognizes it
