October 5, 20169 yr I need to connect a backplane with SFF8087 connectors to an Areca controller which has regular SATA connectors. The backplane is just pass through and there are no expanders involved. Which cable do I need, reverse or forward break out? How can I tell the difference?
October 5, 20169 yr I just bought some for my case which has SFF8087 connectors on the backplane and regular connectors on the MB and SATA cards (reverse breakout) http://www.ncix.com/detail/norco-c-sff8087-4s-sff-8087-to-4x-40-48798.htm

October 5, 20169 yr Can be difficult to tell the difference as they look identical, but yeah, you definitely need reverse breakout cables..
