how can i tell if I have a bad or corrupted USB Boot Drive, or if I have another problem.  i powered down my server and i replaced a bad drive.  After i restarted the server  i didn't hear the normal startup sequence and I noticed that the light on the USB was dark, then it lit up flickered then off.  I remove the USB and plugged it in to my HTPC and it showed up and loaded with no problem.  Do I need to hook up a monitor to watch the boot up sequence?

Yes.  Possibly the boot order in the BIOS changed

ok maybe i was just not patient enough.  I waited a few minutes and it booted up.
