October 10, 20169 yr I'm guessing the answer to my question is no, but I just want to make sure. My mobo has fan control, lighting, over clocking features etc etc. Is there anyway of accessing these in a VM? I'm assuming no, but I wondered how do the system plugins work that report cpu temp etc. Thanks in advance
October 11, 20169 yr If you are trying to access them through software than I can tell you, no it won't work. I tried the software package for my z710-a and it couldn't even startup as it tries to communicate with the hardware which it can't due to being virtualized and errors out. I am able to tune using the mobo features in BIOS and that works great but not through the software bundle. When I had the system running windows, I had it OC'ed but not sure if that helps/benefits for unRAID.
October 11, 20169 yr Author yeah, that's what I was expecting. Was just wondering if anyone has any clever methods
October 11, 20169 yr You'll be able to control fans if you use a USB fan controller and have that plugged into a USB controller you've passed through, but to overclock on the fly you'd have to be able to pass through other components on the motherboard to the VM which isn't possible.
