Figured it was time I upgraded to the latest and greatest version for no other reason than it's raining out and I'm bored. So, what is the recommended path for upgrade? Should I go direct to 4.5.1 or via v?.?.?

You should be able to rename the existing bzroot and bzimage to bzroot.432 and bzimage.432

then copy the bzroot and bzimage files from the 4.5.1 distribution to your flash drive

Also copy memtest from the 4.5.1 release to the flash drive. It is a newer version than the one you currently have.

 

Then, just reboot.  No need to re-format the flash drive.  If for some reason it fails to boot, just rename the old bzroot and bzimage to their original names and you'll be back to your old version.
