nightanole
So i have a dell PowerEdge R720. Its onboard controller is a perc h710, aka SAS2208. Im wondering if i can flash it to IT/passthrough mode. Or in a last ditch effort, use the the backpane and just run a normal controller. I assume the 2 sas connectors on the backpane are pin compatible with normal controllers. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/lsi-raid-controller-hba-equivalency-mapping.19/ Quote Link to comment
Twistedatoms
I too have the same raid controller and haven't been able to find anything on crossflashing. did you ever resolve this? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
I believe someone recently tried and there's no it mode firmware for lsi2208 based controllers, get one with 2008 or 2308 chipset. Quote Link to comment

Thats ok it gets worse, if you flash a non dell firmware to that funny pci-e slot, the server wont even post. So i bricked a 310 that way. If you cross flash, it must be one that fits in a normal pci-e slot, not the backplane slot. Quote Link to comment
