October 16, 20169 yr I am not sure what has been happening, but i was able to get the attached log from unraid web gui to another computer. It shows some issues with memory running out. I am also attaching diagnostics, which probably don't have much use as they are after the hard reset. When i get to the crashed unraid server, i am unable to telnet or get any response from outside the machine. It doesn't have a monitor attached to it, so i could not see what was on the screen or if it was working. The only thing i could do was ping it. I have done a memory check for 3 hours with no problems and just started running the troubleshooting mode of fix common problems so that i can attach logs next time it crashes. tower-diagnostics-20161015-1954.zip UNRAID_LOG_MINUS_MOVER.doc
October 16, 20169 yr Community Expert If you are getting oom (out-of-memory) errors then that probably means you need more RAM for the workload you are trying to run. UnRAID runs completely from RAM with no swap file so oom errors can cause unpredictable results depending on what processes get killed.
October 16, 20169 yr Author Thanks, I just checked and this machine only has 4 gb, so that is a likely suspect. (and it ran fine until i switched machine after moving)
October 16, 20169 yr To be clear Unraid needs very little ram and if you are running out of 4gb in two days you'll run out of 8 in four days. Find the hog or leak before throwing ram at it. Then add ram if it really is justified. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
October 16, 20169 yr Author Ok, i did upgrade to 8 gigs, i will keep running troubleshooting mode and see if i can find the culprit.
October 16, 20169 yr Ok, i did upgrade to 8 gigs, i will keep running troubleshooting mode and see if i can find the culprit. If it doesn't run out of memory within say 2 weeks or so, reboot the system and stop troubleshooting mode, as its not designed to run long term and will in itself cause memory issues (by filling up the log) if it runs long term.
October 18, 20169 yr Author I have been watching with CA adviser and just shut plex down and restarted it, it dropped the memory usage by approximately 3 gb when plex was off. Plex was scanning my very large catalog of mp3's for metadata at the time. usage after is 4.5 total 2.5 hot. Are there any other tools to identify usage by process/container? Coming back now 7 hours later plex is using 99% of cpu use according to caadviser, and then 105% and 100%, which is interesting. Memory hasn't climbed back up yet that much. attaching plex log. plex_log_10-17-16.txt
