October 21, 20169 yr Hey all, Looking to buy a PCI-e HBA for my computer. My peasant computer only has 4 SATA II ports and this is a much more costly method of adding more, compared to buying a new motherboard. Preferably an LSI card with an SAS2008 or SAS2308 chip, but if you have something else that can support 8 SATA drives or has 2 SAS connectors, let me know the details and I might be interested. Thanks!

October 23, 20169 yr Just as an afterthought, I know in Europe it's often possible to get LSI based cards pretty cheap on eBay. Something like this I found quickly on eBay.com which is a decent price, would need to add your forward breakout cables and flash it to IT mode yourself, but there's plenty of guides and advice on here.

The USA has less than 5% of the world's population, so probably not. And even looking at unRAID usage by country only just over half the users are in the US. https://lime-technology.com/unraid-by-country/
