October 23, 20169 yr Looking to virtualize my existing WinXP installation to an img file to use on UnRAID. What software do I use for that?
October 23, 20169 yr https://my.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/evalcenter?p=converter After that this should be able to convert it to something usable in Unraid. (assuming VMware's thing doesn't have that function built in) https://www.starwindsoftware.com/converter Haven't actually ever tried this but it should work.

October 24, 20169 yr As you'll see in my related thread, there's a guide on the Unraid site specifically for this: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_6/VM_Management#Physical_to_Virtual_Machine_Conversion That helped me quite a bit.
October 30, 20169 yr Author As you'll see in my related thread, there's a guide on the Unraid site specifically for this: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_6/VM_Management#Physical_to_Virtual_Machine_Conversion That helped me quite a bit. I thought I'd read a step-by-step somewhere but, with this huge library of info, I couldn't find it. Mucho gracias!!
October 31, 20169 yr Author Actually, it doesn't appear that the tutorial is exactly what I am looking for. One part of the tutorial is for using a physical disk in a VM. The seems to require that you connect your physical disk to the UnRAID server. All I want to do is create an image of my existing WinXP PC and virtualize it to use in KVM without having the existing PC anymore. I plan to convert my existing PC from WinXP to Win7 but, want to be able to run a VM of my old WinXP with all my apps and files.

You will need to connect your hard disk to the unRAID server in order to make an image of it. Once you have made the image you can remove it and put it back in the pc it came from
