October 25, 20169 yr Hi Experts, can someone tell me, if the Realtek RTL8111E or the Intel I-219V are working on v 6.2.2 because i am looking for a new Mainboard and this info would be helpful. Thanks in advance
October 25, 20169 yr Community Expert One note of minor caution. unRAID and RealTek have a checkered past. At one time, I seem to recall the built-in (or cooked) RealTek drivers weren't working properly with the Linux core and LimeTech devoted a lot of time sorting the whole mess out which included a special build of the base OS to include different RealTek drivers. I was told (in a private comunication) that those days are/maybe(?) past and if there is a problem with the standard built-in Linux RealTek drivers in the future, LimeTech is not going to do any troubleshooting to solve the issues. NOTE: My understanding is that RealTek is NOT devoting many resources to the development and subsequent maintenance of the Linux drivers for their chip sets. They tend to concentrate on the Windows drivers. Hence, any problems that develop on the Linux OS drivers take a long time to resolve...
October 25, 20169 yr I think I can sum up both replies in one sentence. They should work fine right now, but don't be surprised if they quit working with a future update.

Thanks in advance While it is true that some have had issues with Realtek NICs and unRAID, the system I was using up until recently had a built-in Realtek RTL8111E NIC and I never had a problem with it in the four years it was in use. I recently changed motherboards and it has Intel i217V and Atheros 8161B NICs and both work well with unRAID.
October 25, 20169 yr I would say the vast majority of users don't have problems with either but if someone is having a problem with a NIC on unRAID, chances are it'll be a Realtek, not Intel. I don't know of any users that have ever had their Intel NIC stop working with unRAID, but I could be wrong.
