February 10, 201016 yr Hi, could someone give me an idea of the possible causes of a continual "hard resetting link" error - see attached syslog. syslog-2010-02-10.txt
February 11, 201016 yr Same problem as I have here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5249.0 There's a link in there suggesting its possibly power or cable, but in my case could be drive about to fail. I don't think its the power supply as its a new system from Lime-Tech, I've swapped cables and now I'm swapping drives.
February 12, 201016 yr Author Thanks, have tried changing SATA cables,a nd the PSU I use is a single rail 750w, so its not the problem as I tested in a high end gaming machine. Think I've found the cause. The case i have Norco RPC-3116 has backplanes, and it appears that one of them was faulty and another was skewed inside the case. Have pulled the whole thing apart and replaced the faulty backplane - server fired up perfectly now, just doing a partity check just in case. Word of advice to Norco case users, have a close look at how the backplanes are fitted, as this problem has been a hard one to find! thx, PK
