PowerEdge SC1420 for UnRaid

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if you can get the Dell PowerEdge SC1420 to boot UnRAid?  I enabled the boot from USB in the BIOS but everytime I try to boot it the system says "no operating system found" and stops.  I know its a good flash also because its my primary UnRaid Pro flash that is booting fine on another system.  Just trying to upgrade to better hardware.

I quite literally setup unraid v4.5.1 in Poweredge 400SC just a few minutes ago.  We're only "1" away right??

Seriously though check your boot sequence.  Just enabling USB boot is not necessarily enough.  You should make sure USB devices or USB Flash Drive is at the top of your boot sequence.

Still no go.  I even update the BIOS to the latest version.  It recognizes the USB drive then gives me a boot error.

I gave up on an SC1600 last week. I had to use a floppy (and PLop) to get to a state when i could boot from the USB. That done, i ran MemTest and found an odd memory error (see http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5189.0) - in low memory. Internet search found a resolution for a memory error at very high addresses, but the fix was to change a USB setting. replaced mobos, memory and still same error at same address. i gave up on Dell and started with new hardware.
