2 unraid setups 1 plex

Featured Replies

Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me.

I currently has 2 pc's running unraid. I would like to run plex on my powerful pc running unraid and connect to my other low power unraid server to stream my media from.

The problem i have is adding the shares to plex from my other unraid server on my network.

Do i have to mount the shares onto my unraid server running plex if so how?

I have tried searching the forums but have not found any solution. i'm sure i am not the only person running more than one unraid server :o

Cheers for any help.

I have the same thing going on and used a lower powered unraid system to store all my data on and use the 2nd machine to run dockers.

Then installed Unassigned Devices plugin to mount my shares from my 1st machine.

Works well in my situtaion

Thanks to everyone who has replied its much apreciated  ;)

I have installed "unassigned devices" no problem there  :)

My unraid box which has my shares \\TOWER\Media\Movies\

                                                        \\TOWER\Media\TVShows\

                                                        \\TOWER\Media\Music\

I'm having no luck mounting the shares in my Plex Docker. I just see an empty folder in plex.

Can anyone post some screenshots of there "add remote smb nfs shares" settings and docker settings?  ;)

It is very confusing trying to fill in the correct mount paths etc when i dont completely understand  :(

I do understand  i have to mount a remote smb share then fill in the mount path into the plex docker settings. i'm just not sure if i am filling in the correct information. (very frustrating) LOL.

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks Gadgetgeek  :)

Mobile atm  so can't post a screenshot but if you've done the mounts right with ud you're going to add a container volume of say /moremovies mapped to a host volume of /mnt/disks/TOWER_MOVIES  with an access mode of RW,slave

Everything is right.  But you still have to hit mount on the UD screen.  And then probably restart plex

Ok. I feel a bit stupid right now  :o

The problem i have discovered was that both my unraid box's were named "Tower" and this would not allow me to mount shares from my other unraid server.

Thanks for all your help guys especially Squid  ;)

I can move on to breaking more stuff now  :P

Sounds like your sorted now. As squid pointed out you have press the mount button after setting up the mounts, also both machines must have unique names.

Also I noticed you also have the varible "plexpass" in key 3 this no longer works and to keep it up to date it must have "latest" assuming you are you ls.io plex

The problem i was having, was pressing the mount button would not mount the share. All because the two unraid servers had the same name  :o.

I have now changed the variable to 'latest'. Thanks for the tip  ;)

As you can tell i'm new to Unraid.

Thanks for your help guys. Now I've just got to setup Sabnzbd, Sonarr, Couchpotato haha.

Enjoy the journey! I have SAB and CP fully working so it downloads, renames and moves to correct location and Plex detects updates the library. Not got round to adding tv category and getting files downloaded in transmission to move yet.

uhmm.. isnt the remote share "media" not "movies" ???
